Not only is it crucial to keep up with the latest font types, it is also important to understand how they are being used. Choosing a great font doesn’t always mean you’ll end up with good design.
Let’s take a look at the font trends of 2019 and how you should use them.
BIG AND BOLD
I like big fonts and I cannot lie!
Big and bold fonts were very popular in 2018 and it looks like we still can’t get enough! These fonts are great for website headers and will make a lasting impression on your printed material.
MINIMAL & CLEAN DESIGNS
Love Apple’s website? Who doesn’t?
Their use of minimal and clean design patterns is one indication of how trendy and popular this font is becoming.
Lato is a great example of this and you can bet 2019 will bring us more fonts like these.
UNIQUE SCRIPT FONTS FOR LOGOS & BRANDING
Want to convey that your business is unique and different?
A nice script font for your logo could be just the ticket. The popularity of script fonts are still on the rise. These fonts are great for logos, title fonts or t-shirt designs.
VARIABLE FONTS GIVE YOU ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
You’ll get more “bang for your buck” with variable fonts, which are rising in popularity.
By using different weights and styles for one single font you can create many different designs.
One of my go-to fonts is the Roboto typeface.
TEXT WITH GRADIENTS
Like it or not, we aren’t done with gradients just yet.
Last year, gradients had a huge impact in the design world. Companies like Instagram and Apple are making good use of this technique and it looks like everyone loves this trend.
Bright contrasting gradient with text is a guaranteed home run for 2019.
